HEAD OF TECHNICAL SERVICES & AN ADVENTURER AND NATURE LOVER
Created: Mar 13, 2019
An adventurer and nature lover, the man who made his “bucket list” as a kid and partially achieved his goals. Our head of technical services often inspires us to take one step further.
1. ALMA IS A FAMILY
I have worked at Alma Quattro since 2000. Some of my duties include repair and maintenance of bus stop shelters, free-standing citylights, billboards, backlights, organisation of installation and postering for citylights and scroll media, installation and maintenance of automatic public toilets, and everything related to the technical services.
19 years of my work at Alma had been marked by various adventures - we were all young and of similar age, so much of our time was spent together even after work hours. We had enough energy to do one part of our work during the day and continue the work during the night, but the network was much smaller.
Today we have over 4000 billboard faces.
We've done many interesting campaigns that have marked the growth and development of Alma Quattro, especially campaigns with innovative solutions. One of such phenomenal examples was the campaign for our client Gorenje, when we put the entire washing machine into a column!
Working at the field, I have experienced various situations, both good and bad, but when you are willing to get work done, nothing can be a problem. During the 2000’s in Novi Sad, my colleague Mikšin and I were repairing a billboard. As a beautiful girl passed by, I turned around while standing on the ladder, falling onto a thorny bush beneath. Nothing hurt me more than her smile caused by my foolishness.
Today I am more involved in organisation and division of fieldwork tasks to others, rather than doing it myself. But I am still on the spot for all new installations and more serious repairs. For instance, I took part in the installation of new LED screens.
LED screen near the Main Post Office building was put into operation within 40 minutes.
I know exactly what defines Alma Quattro best and what makes it one of the best and most successful companies in Serbia.
I can say that Alma Quattro is one of rare companies that acts like a family (once we were a small family, now a big one). There were hard times, but we always came out as winners. Whenever I called someone from Alma, everything would be solved as quickly as possible.
2. “SERBIAN ‘OPANCI’ (TRADITIONAL PEASANT SHOES) ON THE ITALIAN ASPHALT”
I grew up listening to all kinds of music, but my favourite is our old traditional folk music. I have a collection of over 800 traditional folk songs that I listen to when I want to relax. Folk dance is another great love of mine. I finished secondary school – folk dance and songs programme, and as a member of the folk dance ensemble “Branko Radičević” I travelled around the whole Europe.
I think that folk dance ensemble can be compared to Alma, since it is also one big family that demands impeccable coordination to keep everyting in sync.
When I was 19, during one performance at the Italian festival in 1997 I had stage fright for the first and for the last time. I couldn't have guessed that we would be dancing in front of 5000 people. They published our photograph in the Italian newspapers, as we were the representatives of Serbia, with the title “Serbian ‘opanci” (traditional peasant shoes) on the Italian asphalt”.
3. “BUCKET LIST”
When I was a kid, I made my “bucket list” with some things and crazy stuff I would like to do in my life, and I accomplished some of them. I would like to single out my parachute jump from a plane.
I grew up near the airport training centre and I watched parachutists every day. The airport was on one side and the Danube was on the other.
I had to try it. That feeling of freedom while free falling 40 seconds and a jump from 3000 meters - beyond description! I also persuaded my wife, who was afraid of height, to jump as well. After the first jump she changed her mind and became even more enthusiastic about it than me.
I also go free diving, fishing and I like various adventures that make me fulfilled and relaxed. I try to pass on this love of nature and sports to my three kids. This is my way of resetting in my everyday life.
Next year I am planning to swim for the Holly Cross. One of the items on my bucket list is a five-day hiking trip to the Hilandar Monastery.
I have always been determined.
Even a fall from height and a spine injury did not prevent me to continue doing things that fulfill me and drive my life. When you know what you want, the sky’s the limit.
My adventurousness makes me capable of solving problems even in unpredictable situations.
